NK-OPTIS Fiber Optic Temperature Information System

It is possible to measure the temperature distribution of the target equipment over a very long distance using a single optical fiber. By changing the shape according to the measurement object, precise temperature acquisition is also possible.

I believe many companies have traditionally used thermocouples and heat-sensitive wires for fire prediction measures, but with the recent trend of larger and more widespread factory equipment, the costs for wiring, installation work, and maintenance after operation have often increased. Our system allows for extensive temperature measurement and monitoring by deploying a single optical fiber sensor with a diameter of a few millimeters as the measurement target. Conventional measuring devices often require electricity for measurement, which can necessitate explosion-proof measures in some cases, but by using optical fibers, it is possible to implement a fundamentally safe solution. Recently, with the liberalization of electricity, there has been significant attention on the use of our technology for abnormal monitoring of fuel transport equipment associated with the construction of power plants. In addition to the commonly envisioned linear fibers, we also utilize specialized sensors through custom processing for temperature measurement in confined spaces or short spans, catering to various applications. Of course, it is also possible to build monitoring systems that repurpose existing fibers. Our technology is utilized for monitoring areas such as joint trenches and underground facilities, where people typically do not enter, contributing to the safety of on-site workers. Additionally, the more measurement points there were, the thicker the cable diameter became, which often led to high costs for drilling the corresponding borehole diameter. However, with this product, it is possible to start measurements immediately using a portable measuring device, a laptop, and dedicated optical fiber sensors. This product is sized to be loaded onto a typical passenger vehicle, and there is no need for heavy machinery to lay cables. It can also be inserted into existing piping for heat extraction and thermal response recovery tests to measure temperature. In recent years, it has been widely used by research institutions, including universities, as well as companies that undertake thermal response testing. The laptop does not require complicated settings and operates on Windows OS. Additionally, we offer optional software for gradient display at each depth and analysis programs, so please feel free to inquire. It transmits location data obtained from signals from GPS satellites to smartphones and tablets anywhere within the Sigfox area using Sigfox communication. *Sigfox is one of the LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) networks, which covers 98% of the population in Japan and is a global IoT network. It is characterized by low cost, low power consumption, and long-distance transmission. In Japan, Kyocera Communication Systems Co., Ltd. operates services using the frequency band regulated as active tags in the 920MHz band. It is deployed in over 70 countries worldwide (as of January 2023), using the 868MHz band in Europe, the 902MHz band in the United States, and the 920MHz band in the Asia-Pacific region. *It can also be integrated with a web browser application from Alinco under a separate contract.
